The lines are tethered with hooks and sinkers (weight) and dropped overboard from both sides of the dhoni. Traditionally Maldivians use small dhonis. Fishing of any kind is normally prohibited in the vicinity of the resort house reef. However, almost all the resorts islands organise night fishing trips at least once a week. Most of the resorts provide big game fishing or morning fishing, on request basis.
